Frequently asked questions – FAQs:

Who is psychological counselling / coaching suitable for?

In principle, psychological counselling is suitable for everyone. On the one hand, psychological counselling is of course very helpful if you have problems and feel dissatisfied. On the other hand, you can also benefit greatly if you are actually satisfied with your life but would like to develop yourself further and get to know and understand yourself better.

I would be happy to advise you on nutrition and gut health and help you stay fit and healthy.

How do I prepare for my first session?

If you have registered for psychological counselling or coaching with me, then you have already taken the first big step on your path to change and towards your goal. Be proud of this step and think about what is important to you in counselling. Don’t put pressure on yourself to already know exactly what your goal is. You may be dissatisfied with your life or a situation and want to change it. That’s enough. Together, we will then figure out exactly what you want to achieve and what your process might look like. I will help you find out what exactly makes you happy. This can often be something different than you think.

What is the procedure for psychological counselling or coaching?

It is important to me that you feel comfortable during the consultation. You determine the topic and the pace. I will ask you questions, listen to you and share my impressions and suggestions with you.

In the first consultation session, we will get to know each other and you can describe your problems and concerns to me. Together, we will then work out your goals and begin the process. In each session, I aim to provide my clients with helpful suggestions and exercises that they can then implement themselves at home.

You can always be open and honest; I am, of course, bound by confidentiality.

How many sessions will I require?

Every person is unique, and so is their counselling. Many of my clients appreciate closer support at the beginning. It is usually advisable to schedule the first counselling sessions on a weekly basis so that the process is given sufficient importance in your life. Depending on the topic and issue, a different number of sessions may be necessary for each person. You yourself know best what is good for you. The counselling is complete when you are satisfied with the result and have achieved your goal. This can be after 1 month, after 3 months or even after a year. Do not rush yourself and do not put yourself under pressure. Allow yourself the time you need. This is already the first step towards more self-love and self-care.

How much does psychological counselling / coaching cost?

Since it is not possible to resolve a problem that has accumulated over several years in a single counselling session, I offer counselling packages.

Contact me for your individual package price.

Is psychological counselling / coaching covered by health insurance or supplementary insurance?

Psychological counselling is not covered by health insurance. In my experience, self-paying clients make faster progress and need fewer sessions than those who have their counselling paid for. Many of my clients find it difficult to treat themselves and spend money on themselves. Therefore, treating yourself to good counselling and investing money in your well-being and health is already a big step and a success in itself. It means you value yourself more, which in itself leads to an improvement in self-esteem.

Who is couples therapy and counselling suitable for? Which couples benefit from couples therapy and counselling?

Couples therapy and counselling are very helpful for couples who find themselves in a difficult situation and are looking for support. There are no limits to the topics that can be addressed. In addition, couples counselling is an investment in the relationship and ensures that couples learn to resolve conflicts, tackle and solve problems in a solution-oriented manner, and overcome difficulties together in the future. It is also useful as preventive therapy for happy couples who are functioning well. In counselling, you get to know each other better, learn to understand and deal with your partner’s baggage, and grow together.

One of the most important prerequisites for a happy romantic relationship is good communication within the relationship. Both partners must be willing to constantly work on themselves and on the relationship. In couples counselling, you will learn how to establish good communication with each other and discover tools that will help you deal with conflicts, arguments, difficult situations and challenges in your relationship.

Couples counselling can also be very useful for expectant parents to help them decide how they want to raise their child. I am also happy to help existing parents with parenting counselling so that you can agree on your parenting tasks and be good parents to your children.

Couples counselling is also highly recommended for sexual problems, sexual dissatisfaction and lack of sexual desire in a relationship.

Couples therapy can help with all kinds of conflicts, problems and issues in a relationship and is open to all types of couples: same-sex couples, heterosexual couples, couples with or without children, married or divorced couples, couples who want children, blended families, polyamorous couples, couples in open relationships, long-distance relationships, etc.

For couples who are struggling with problems and arguing more frequently, couples therapy can help them to clarify whether the relationship still has a future and is worth fighting for, or whether a separation is appropriate. For couples who decide to separate, separation counselling can help to ensure that the separation process is pleasant for both partners and does not have traumatic consequences. This is particularly helpful when children are involved.

What is the advantage of online couples therapy/online couples counselling?

The biggest advantage of online couples counselling is definitely the flexibility in terms of time and location. You can access counselling whenever and wherever you want. All you need is a relatively quiet place and an internet connection. This means you don’t have to travel to Zurich for couples counselling, but can also be in Basel, Bern, Lucerne, St. Gallen or Geneva and receive counselling from the comfort of your own sofa at home. Of course, it is also an advantage if you travel abroad frequently. You can access couples therapy online from anywhere in the world and save yourself long journeys.

Online counselling is a great advantage for couples in long-distance relationships, as it allows them to seek counselling at times that suit them better.

If you are a cautious person or feel uncomfortable visiting a therapist in a practice, online counselling may be the right choice for you. You can get in touch and start counselling from the comfort of your own home. This means you don’t have to risk anyone seeing you on your way to the practice. Online counselling remains as anonymous or “secret” as you wish it to be.

In addition, the distance in online therapy can also help you to open up more quickly.

I would like to go to couples therapy, but my partner does not want to. What should I do? How can I convince my partner to go to couples therapy?

Would you like to attend couples therapy, but your partner does not want to? You can come to the consultation on your own first and we will discuss how you can convince your partner to come to the consultation as well. It may help if you ask them to come along for your sake. However, if none of this works, then I recommend that you sign up for counselling on your own. You can also work on many issues on your own and figure out whether your relationship still has a future or not and how you can behave in order to bring about change in your partner.

If you change, this will also have an impact on your partner and cause changes in your relationship.
